Barcalys has appointed Talib Shaah as the bank’s new group chief risk officer, replacing C.S. Venkatakrishnan, subject to regulatory approval.
Venkatakrishnan leaves the position to take on a new group executive committee level remit with Barclays.
Prior to working for Barclays, Shaah was CRO for Market Risk, Real Estate and Treasury and head of Model Validation at Citigroup.
Currently the chief risk officer for Barclays International, Shaah will join the bank’s executive committee and report to group chief executive, Jes Staley.
Staley said: ‘‘Taalib has a long and well-established track record of helping to prudently define and manage risk appetite in large complex financial institutions, including at Barclays.
‘‘I am delighted that we are able to promote such a talented and experienced professional from within our own ranks to this critically important role.’’
Shaah will assume the role on 5 October.
